Im going to school to be a pharmacist. once in the program it takes around 3-4 years. fresh out of school you can make 100k depending on where you work. You really have to be good at the maths and sciences though

Man... I knew the feeling. I was 18 w/ a baby on the way. I got my Diploma from an adult school while working as a tool boy for a ship yard. Talk about getting dirty....

I would recommend joining the military (like what I did) I was able to learn ALOT, get money for school, and learn to help people. I also learn more about myself and my potential. I tried out ifor BUD/s a couple of time (Blew my knee out). I was able to go on some special assignments w/ Force Recon (AWESOME GUYS). IF I didn't bust my knee and back I'd still be there.

I went to school full time after military & worked two jobs. I stepped up my vocabulary, and I used some of my school money to buy a suit for Job interviews. Once I was able to begin taking classes to get me into the RN program I got a job! I quite school and was able to climb and jump jobs till I got to my position now. 3 years after the military I was able to Quadruple my pay! What I was able to learn in the military to this day drives me.

Now I'm looking to retire hopefully in my 40's. This all didn't come easy. I took alot of hits on my way up.....Made as much friends as I made enymies. But whatever vehicle you decide to take, school / military / whatever.....just remember why you posted this topic. Stay hungry and GET SOME!!!!!!!
great post - motivation and drive are all you need to be successfull.

Thanks for all the positive input guys I really appreciate it.

I am taking a career assesment test tomarrow at my college, so we will see how that goes.

i too have come from an extremely poor background and got my first job at 14 years old working for store credit on a bicycle i wanted. i have not stopped working since.

i have a total of 41 transferable units right now and i know that it it is getting to the point where if I dont figure out a major i may start wasting time/money on classes I do not need to take. I just feel lost becuase I dont want to regret the desicions i need to make in the very near future.

I also feel at times that my job keeps me from exploring other oppertunities, but in order to persue these things i would probably have to sell my S for something much more practical. I cant sell my S, i would probably cry.

i sell refrigerators at lowes appliances section for 8.42 a hour, i hate every second of it, and i cant wait till im out of college.

By the way if your buying a refrigerator dont ask the salesmen "which one works the best" i get that every time and i want to shove their face into the fridge and go "is this as good as this one" and do it to each one.

itsa fridge, it cools, end of story

I am having trouble deciding on a major primarly because I do not know what i truly would like to do for a living.

Go to your local Bookstore and get yourself two books,

1.What color is your Parachute?

2. Do what you love and the money will follow.

One of the major keys to a happy life is being able to make a living doing what you love. If you do what you love to do, there's a good chance you'll be a lot better at it than someone who hates what they're doing. Consequently, you'll be worth more. That and you'll enjoy your days. When you've found a way to be paid for doing what you love, you cease to have to work.
Both these books are designed to help you find out what it is that you're suited for as well help you understand work as a dynamic in your life. Get em'....read em', you won't be sorry. Money and time well spent.
