Idea: DXM is an antitussive opiate derivative. Perhaps with a mix of tyrosine supplements and small amounts of Robitussin, you may be able to easy the withdrawal symptoms?

Also I mentioned benadryl because it often puts people to sleep. I'm not sure how many your friend can handle but try giving him 2 and see if he gets drowsy and if his symptoms disappear.

I would not recommend mixing though as I am not a doctor and unsure of the contraindications.

As a last ditch resort, give him some LSD and talk him out of his addiction

I'm jk about that last bit...

Alcoholism is actually one of the worst addictions. What often happens is the addict will sink into delirium tremens and intense seizures. The next step is death. More people die from alcohol addiction than heroin or meth.
yea tell me about it, i had the DT's one time after a month long bender
think about it like this every muscle in your body is fighting the opposite muscle, it feels like your body is trying to rip itself apart the only thing that helps is a shot of a benzo

1. Your friend is going to want to kick or it's not going to happen.
Agree 1000%. My brother in law was on heroin for a year, maybe more. His parents convinced him to go to rehab for 30 days. He missed Christmas. The first week he was back, he relapsed, took his normal dose, and died from morphine intoxication. He was 19.

The person you are helping has to be completely on board, or else your help--no matter how well intentioned--can hurt much more than you can imagine.

A few weeks ago, I read in a local ad that a University around here is looking for meth addicts to conduct research and experiment in aiding the rehabilitation process. The school was even offering monetary compensation. Definitely search for Universities and research clinics that might be conducting similar research a little closer to your area.
