Definitly tough to find a job these days. I lucked out by doing an internship with a company for 9 months, and got a full time offer in November. College senior (Private college), graduating in May and starting work in Colorado in June.

52K + Bonus + Relocation.

I have many friends that are doing grad because they couldn't find a job.

Shitty market for Engineers (Mechanical)

In 1981, with a BS in Physics from Calif. State Northridge, I started at $22,500 a year, as a Flight Test Data Analysis Engineer. We worked on the Tomahawk Cruisemissile. Another guy hired at the same time and he started at $25,000 out of Cornell. Pissed me off. He was a total jerk-off, would go to lunch and not come back, and he got better raises. But I was a female. I hope times have changed.
