I also have a placard and park my S2K in handicap spots.

Granted, if there is a regular spot very close I go the regular spot.

I guess I "look" fine and I get looks and comments regularly. I have total kidney failure, partial paralysis due to nerve damage, and 2 recently dislocated knees. Some days I walk normal, other days I don't. Still, it hurts even when I look like I'm fine.

I'm on fewer pain killers now and regained some of the movement lost due to paralysis (very lucky as I was totally paralyzed below the knees), but still "need" closer parking. I do think before I park. I can walk an extra 50 feet, but not 200 many days. Also, I try to think about those that may need the spot more than I do.
Then you deserve a handicap spot, regardless of the gawking eyes.

So, i went to lunch today in the same area I was the other day when I originally started this thread. This time Im across the street at Quizno's and I watch this woman pull into the parking lot (which granted is very small...only 3 spaces in the front of the building, 1 of which is handicap...there is an additional 6-8 spaces behind the building, and a CVS right next door with a large parking lot) and being as there were only 3 spots and 2 are occupied (handicap is open), she parks between them completely blocking the handicap ramp. This may be no big deal to most of you ( i can hear the "so what"s now) however, at any given time at this place I have counted as many as 4 people cruising by in motorized wheelchairs. They have on occasion stopped at this building to get a sandwich or a drink, etc....
I think there is some kinda of assisted living facility down the street. ANYWAY....yet another thing that makes me hate people....lazy,inconsiderate people at least

P.S. Laurel Market FTW!!!

I have one leg that's shorter than the other and broke the same leg badly in a donorcycle accident about 10 years ago and walk with a pretty good limp. I have a legal handicap tag for my rear view mirror. I'm only 36 years old and I get the gawkers alot because of my age I guess.

I parked in one of the handicapped spots at work and was coming back from lunch and the security guard asks if I have a handicap. I was so pi$$ed I asked him " what are you? A friekin' doctor?" I told him to "watch me walk when I walk away".

I hate people that think that just because you're not in a wheelchair or 100 years old you can't possibly have a handicap.

I tend to not worry about what others are doing, it's not good for you.
