Iraq
I totally agree that Iraq needs new leadership and that their WMD must be totally destroyed. I just don't see an end to this terrorism. I just recently saw a show of the 1972 German Olympics and the terrorism done there. If Saddam is removed, then who's next and when will it end? I think the terrorism will grow. I know we can't ignore it. I just can't see us ever winning against it. Sorry Lee355 about the spell check. I'm not an anti-war protester. I'm just trying to understand it all.
I have a hard time understanding why any average American citizen has such a fascination with Saddam, "we're going to war with him," he's a bad guy? Of course he his, but so is like half the leaders of underdeveloped countries. Why not focus on Ghana, or Ivory Coast, or Indonesia, or North Korea for that matter? Why Saddam? Because he's dangerous and has bad weapons that hurt lots of people, haha, just look at our own history, we have our own dangerous weapons and we have tested them on certain ethnic groups of American decent.
There will never be an end to terrorism as long as the US continues to take advantage of fledgling countries and there are millions being exploited, used, and discarded; by their own governments, who are often US puppets.
If you want to understand it all, you don't have to look at Iraq or Saddam, that's what I'm saying, just look at your own history, of our country... it'll all make sense then. Our government is still at a crossroads with our dual nature foreign policy. We have Teddy Roosevelt style "carry a big stick" policy, and what Dubya started with, this kind of isolation policy. Thta should start people off in the right direction in understanding this Iraq conundrum.

"Into clubbing DJ Sang?, take a look at what happened in Bali over the weekend. 150+ dead from a bomb in a club that western tourists frequent. On the anniversary of the bombing of the USS Cole no less. If we dont get these terrorists now, theyll be bombing our clubs next. We are being sent a clear warning....ignore it and more people die, and then the nutless liberals will blame Bush for not stopping it from happening."
Yeah, let's get involved, let's get involved in everything we get skeeered of. I was reading the onion.com the other day, and there was a mock article titled, "Bush promotes, US does whatever it wants, policy." I thought it was hilarious, why, because it's pretty much the gist of what Bush wants to do.
Yeah, build dem guns, bombs, expensive ass weapons, yeah! War's cool, let's bash "nutless liberals." Let's get some Saddam blood! Do the mob thing, let's just do whatever we think is right for us, oh sorry, the elite moneymakers (arms dealers).
Yeah, I like clubbing, but I'm not it Bali, nor do I hang out with terrorists, I like to live life without wanting to destroy everything and have lots of enemies.

Mr. Hussein hosted a conference for terrorism a year ago in September. The highlight of the conference was the World Trade Center being demolished. I was looking at pictures of cheering terrorists in Iraq the day of the event. It made it clear leaders like Saddam Hussein need to go. The people who support them may need to go, also. If the Iraqi people prefer a leader who gasses their own citizens, encourages acts of terror, and develops weapons that are only useful for slaughter of civilians, they deserve whatever they get. If a population supports a monster, they should get the same punishment as the monster. They may not live in a democracy, but that just means it is easier for responsible citizens to remove a poor leader.
My only concern is: What will replace Saddam? If we remove him, who will fill the void? One of his buddies, someone more moderate, or someone more extreme? At least in Afghanistan there were a number of leaders to fill the power vacuum left by the Taliban. Who is there in Iraq? Also, in Afghanistan, most of the actual fighting was done by Afghan soldiers. I am afraid that the world will be a more dangerous place for American citizens abroad if US soldiers are sent to fight Iraqi soldiers on Iraqi soil. Too many people talk as if removing Saddam will solve all the world's problems, not create a whole host of new problems.

DJ, first of all let me say that I am not attacking you (or anyone for that matter) personally. That being said I dont know if The Onion is the best place to get information to base decisions about anything, much less foreign policy.
Of course I never accused you of hanging out with terrorists. I guess you are of the mindset that whatever happens will happen. If saddam supplies terrorists with chem/bio/nuke weapons and kills a couple thousand people, that its the price you pay for being on top. Everyone wants to knock off the superbowl champs, and that's what the US is in the world. I guess its ok to feel that way (for you), but Id rather our government try to keep the next 9-11 or worse from happening. Its very possible it will still happen, but remember no matter how you feel, the majority of the middle east would just as soon you and me be dead. ...not because of any other reason than they oppose the freedoms we have and differences in beliefs in our society and thiers.

Got some facts to back up this brainpowerless statement?
