This isn't a rocket science level observation.
Neither is the fact that your post came coming across with you looking like an ass with you putting these things at the end like you're talking to someone with comprehension problems:

This is the last of my posts on this thread- arguing on the internet always ends up pointless, cause no one ever gives..

I think the original story said that kids had to have their cell phones off. Fair enough. Maybe the kid had his on, in case he was finally able to talk with his mom. If you're arguing that kids shouldn't have cell phones in school, in general, fine, I wouldn't argue against that. That's not really the point of the rub. He was allowed to have his cell phone in school. And I can see no fault in the kid talking to his mother during lunch. If during the school day is the only time she can call, it might be that they actually planned to have the phonecall during his lunchtime, so it would cause as little disruption as possible. In any event, they should have worked something out with the school beforehand. Perhaps they did. Perhaps, being that this was near a military base and many students had parents serving, the school already had some sort of agreement in place. Guess we don't know every fact, and shouldn't continue to argue about the subject. It's been sort of beaten to death anyways.

Since when is any adult that has a car like the S2k, or any other sports car, responsible.

J/k

Actually, exceltoexcel, you are the perfect example of why kids lives suck nowadays. "Adults" like you continuously underestimate their abilities to be responsible and judgment even tho they are much more mature then you were at that age. Now this is not true for every kid but with the way the world is you can not just keep adding more stress upon their lives on top of the normal things that they have to deal with everyday. My father understood this and instead of limiting what I could do he merely pointed me in the correct direction. When one adds up the stress of school (which sucks), thoughts of the future, peer conflicts, intresrts, goals, family in a war zone, mics. stuff, and "adults" telling you that your not ready it is no wonder that more schools are not shot up by kids that just snap. So lighten up man.

Yeah he was so responsible he ignored rules, which just goes to show they can't handle the responsibility of even turning off the phone, let alone not using them to make social plans during class.

We didn't have cell phones when I was in school and we some how lived without it. MAN THE STRESS OF IT!

Yet he wasn't making social plans during class, he was talking to his mom in Iraq duing his lunch break on the eve of Mother's Day weekend, so who cares?

Yeah we did without cell phones at our time, but this is 2005, not 1993. Times have changed, public schools need to adapt.

Times have changed, no doubt.

Cell phones don't help kids learn any better in school. We had pay phones in my high school. As long as we were on our free time we could use them until we ran out of dimes or had class. The cell phone is no different. If the school has a policy to keep all cell phones off during the day so they do not become a distraction I don't see the issue. Is it crummy that kids can't talk to whoever during the daytime? I guess. School is a place to learn academics and social skills within the parameters set by the local school system. It's not a place to just screw around. Don't want to go to school? Don't want to be a productive part of society? I don't care. Get out and don't waste my tax dollars.

Serves him right...follow the rules!!

However, the suspension was too long, he could have had another penalty.

The suspension was way over the top for breaking the cell phone rule.

Being a dickhead to school administrators warranted something like that.
