I'm sorry, I understand zero tolerance, but for certain things it's lame. In schools 8 year old kids getting suspended for bringing in fingernail cutters and this are stupid.

Yes not using profanity would have been a good idea, but think about something that totally infuriates you and see how calm you'd be. Let's say someone came up on the street and bold face slapped your girlfriend for no reason. It would be rational not to curse or fight, but how many of you would.

I'm sorry, but family comes before ANYTHING. School is something made up by man, but your mother is real.

I'm with the kid 100%.

You can't help but make personal insults because your point is wrong.

You don't like the rules then petition the school to change them. Go in front of the board and argue how teenagers should be able to use cell phones in school. Good luck because everyone knows what kind of a mess that would be. Again it doesn't require a Ph.D to see how that would become a mess.

I can image what lunch would be like if everyone could use their cell phones then. A 100 teenagers on the cell phone in a lunch room. Great idea!

Better yet lets go back to giving those HS kids the right to leave school during lunch, lets see how many return. Maybe we should build a smokeng lounge for them too.

Let keep it resonable, you know damn well what would happen if kids would be allowed to make calls during lunch.

I think the kid has a right to get a call from his mother. She can call the front office to talk to him, just like my mother had to do in the 80's.

It doesn't matter where she is or what is going on. The rules are there because kids lack the responsibility, which his actions prove.

The schools have adapted they said don't use them in school because they are a distraction. Yet he did. Makes my heart bleed.
Oh yeah such a distraction to use them during lunch time. Must have made his peanut butter and jelly sandwich harder to eat?

Times have changed, no doubt.

Cell phones don't help kids learn any better in school. We had pay phones in my high school. As long as we were on our free time we could use them until we ran out of dimes or had class. The cell phone is no different. If the school has a policy to keep all cell phones off during the day so they do not become a distraction I don't see the issue. Is it crummy that kids can't talk to whoever during the daytime? I guess. School is a place to learn academics and social skills within the parameters set by the local school system. It's not a place to just screw around. Don't want to go to school? Don't want to be a productive part of society? I don't care. Get out and don't waste my tax dollars.
I agree however what harm does using a cell phone during lunch time do? Especially if its to speak with your mom serving in Iraq on the eve of Mother's Day weekend. Absolutely nothing.

Oh yea thats right you never had to deal with separated parents, extremely high work and social standards, and a more and more people that just did not give a shit.
Yes I did, my parents not only divorced when I was young but my mother moved me 360 miles from my father whom I never saw again until I turned 18. Extremly High work and social standards? Please nothing much has change, teenagers all feel like the world is a tought place because it is. Get used to it.

Im not in high school buddy you should read the whole thread before commenting. You should also get rid of that life gets harder BS because it dont. All it does is get more complex. All one needs to do is to grow in their ability to think and reason.
Sounds like you are. When you grow up you'll find you have less time and more things to do. Have a kid and tell me that life doesn't get harder!

Again, read the rest of the thread. We already talked about this and I will not repeat it.

Thanks for helping prove my point about children lacking responsibilty.

Maybe if kikds would just follow the rules long enough to actually EARN there freedom they would get it.

AGAIN this observation doesn't require much homework.
