No more land line! Anyone else take the plunge?!

TiVo can take a TiVoNET adapter and do all of it's "nightly calls" over your Internet connection. www.9thtee.com - Way better than a modem. I might consider dumping my landline if I wasn't a phone hog - 3-4 hour calls are not at all uncommon for me. It's also handy to have for the fax machine....

I know DIRECTV is working on something similar.

I've been without one for at least 4 years now!

People in Europe have much cooler cell phones than us deprived folks in America. Probably about the only thing that Europe has on America...especially France.

Darren, 3-4 hour calls? Hmmm...I won't touch that one!

I'm waiting for conclusive results on supposed cell phone dangers (if any) before I get around with one glued to my ear for extended periods (i.e. no land line). I use mine for brief periods at a time only. I don't worry about using it when I need to but the damn things get awfully hot during the course of a long conversation ... don't you think?

OK, Mr. Chatterbox Darren, I'm relieved!

Muz, get a handsfree thing for your phone. I can't remember the last time I actually put a cell phone to my head. I even used headsets on phones when I had a land line. Get a handsfree ear thingy and you'll be cool. I think, though, the allegations (or whatever you call them) of having a cell phone on your head causing brain cancer are a scare tactic and a media scare kind of a thing.

I don't know if you heard about this Down Under, but there was a huge uproar about how using a cell phone while pumping gas could cause an explosion from the gas fumes...the one thing that they forgot to mention, IT'S NEVER HAPPENED! Some people have too much time on their hands...

I don't think you have anything to worry about with a cell phone...but get a handsfree thingy...it's damn well worth it!

What I really want is an unobtrusive bluetooth wireless headset.

Ever seen that German show, Inspector Rex' (about the German Sheppard police dog)?

His human partner wears when one he's driving. You can hardly notice it.
