The media focuses primarily on the negative of everything. While I completely agree some cops are ignorant, corrupt, power hungry dicks who are trying to make up for being picked on in High School, these news stories you repeatedly post videos of single out only a percentage of police officers. When they do something wrong, they will be ostracized rigorously, but when they do their job correctly and help people 9 times out of 10 you wont hear about it because it is what they are expected to do.
Well no matter how much good cops do, does that make it ok for them to abuse their power, break the law and have no accountability?

I dont see how seeking to have cops answer to the law is bashing?

Given your argument, I get the impression that police misconduct is ok because their job is hard and people bitch about them too much?

Or maybe you both are missing my point? Is it ok for police to abuse their power and get off with no punishment or accountability what so ever?

No not at all. Given the authority position they have assumed I believe they should actually be held to a higher standard. And I agree completely with the statement you constantly make regarding how they usually just get slapped on the wrist (paid vacation) for misconduct that should be certainly more aggressively reprimanded on. All I am saying is that you constantly go out of your way to attack ALL police officers based off the fact that you see stories on the news...

perfect example:

Well no matter how much good cops do, does that make it ok for them to abuse their power, break the law and have no accountability?

whereas this is simply a percentage police officers in the world who are behaving this way and doing stupid sh!t.... It is unfair to attack the many based on the actions of the few. though I suppose this is done in other instances too, not just with the police.... but that's America for you. My parents were both police officers, and alot of my friends are as well, and they themselves share your same frustration in such instances.... my point is you continually attack police officers as a whole as opposed to singling out those specifically who are the problem. Instead of saying "this cop is a stupid power hungry pig" you insinuate that they are all this way. Atleast that is how your posts would make it seem.

one more time, maybe i should write it in caps, because apparently it keeps getting missed:

NO ONE IS SUPPORTING POLICE MISCONDUCT, OR THE IDEA THAT COPS ARE ABOVE THE LAW.

this thread is about a guy who was speeding, got caught, is admitting to speeding, and wants out of his punishment.

Well good point good sir. I do agree but my negativity, as I have stated countless times, is primarily directed towards the BAD cops. As is with any monkey see monkey do mentality and organization, once one gets away with it, others too many now begin to wonder how far they can push it on a bad day.

LOL i love everyone that says fight every ticket, like somehow the laws shouldn't apply and you shouldn't have to follow them. You clearly admit you were speeding........ so whats the deal? Who cares if he was 5 mph off or not (BTW if you are relying on your speedo I assume you are 100% stock with OEM Wheels and Tires). You were in the wrong. Deal with it and stop being a whiny little biatch.
If you lived in CA you'd understand where we are coming from.

A cop can write 100 tickets whether he is right or wrong in the accusation.

Even if 1/4 of them are falsely issued, you have 25 people who have to pay over $300 dollars, higher premiums, traffic school, and take days off to go to court.

the cops in CA are just pulling anything and everything to give out tickets to generate revenue for the state.

case and point:

I recently got into a car accident. a lady rear ended me.

I called the cops for a report. they come out. do a sobriety test on me. say they cant do anything cause there is no injury and leave.

all this took 2 hours of my time. how does that make sense?

he just wanted to see if i was a DUI so he could write a ticket. he just let the lady sit in her car.
