Default Talk about 180 degrees of bad luck... any suggestion?

So I made a left turn, took it REAL wide and REAL slow. It had just stopped raining and Im on my stock tires... when the car suddenly lost traction and pulled a 180. My friend who was following me in his car pulled over next to me (while I was facing the wrong direction) because my car wouldn't start. Apparently, somewhere thru the spin the car quietly shut off. So I stood there for 5 minutes facing the wrong side just trying to start my car. SUDDENLY a police officer puts his lights on... JUST as my car started... gave me a ticket for Improper Stopping on a Highway (it was a side road, but thats just an aside).

So any suggestions as to what I should say in court? I know some people here are familiar with how to deal with things like this, so I really appreciate your input, esp. since I think this ticket was totally unfair.

Try the truth, tell them you just spun out in the rain, your car stalled and couldn't start it for a few, they finally did...they should be cool with that

Good luck

wow it rains so much heresometimes but I've never experianced anything like that before neither in s2000 or my 450HP 300zxTT going slow in the rain and both are rwd. What was your MPH? You said slow though but I'm curious to how that happened. Good luck just curious to how you spun out like that. It only happens when I really stpe on it at a turn in the rain. Tires bald?

Modify the truth a little, a puddle knocked out your engine, thats why it stalled and spun, and you had trouble getting it going agian

I was going approx 8 mph with foot slowly letting off the gas... I was doin it right... then it just spun around, maybe because it was angled and down hill... maybe my tires just suck... do you really think theyd believe the puddle of water story? How could that cause a motor to shut off?

Why did you lift your foot off the gas ? i know when the back breaks free you never ease off the gas you always keep it on..... could this of been the reason for your spin? (sudden weight transfer from rear to front)

***EDIT*** but then again you where only going 8MPH.... any chance there was some oil on the road ?

You said "Apparently, somewhere thru the spin the car quietly shut off." Maybe it shut off, and that caused the spin, becuase suddenly the tires locked up?

If you were going 8, and let off the gas, and didn't push in the clutch (you didn't say) maybe the revs got to low and that caused the stall.

Anyway, just tell the truth in court, and if the judge questions you, just say you are new to manual transmissions. I find if I'm gonna lie, telling a lie that makes me look bad or stupid is more believable than a lie that makes me look good. Swallow your pride, act dumb, tell "most" of the truth, and win the case.
