So as a non-IL resident, if I drive my (perfectly legal in my state) car with tint on it in that state, do I risk getting my license confiscated?

Why are ALL tinted windows banned? What's the mer fkin reason given for that? Many cars come from the Factory with tint. F that stupidity. Tinted windows save energy be keeping the car cooler in summer and hence less a/c being used.

Front plates anywhere are stupid. I hate front plates, f them.

Why not? If the cops are stooping so low as to solicit cash bribes from residents, it's not that much of a stretch for them to pressure out-of-state drivers about tint. (For example, a town in Texas is being sued for confiscating cash from innocent out-of-state drivers passing through. Also, VA will give you a ticket for using a radar detector - and will even confiscate it, from what I understand.

Speaking of Arizona, Utah and Tint..... My brother was driving through Utah in his Arizona plated vehicle. He was pulled over because the officer thought the window tint was to dark. The officer pulls out a window tint meter, measures his tint, looks up the Arizona law (side windows must be atleast 33%) and informs my brother that his 20% limo tint is not legal. The cop offers that my brother can either remove it on the spot or get a ticket. The cop provided the scraper.

I had heard of this before and thought it was an urban legend until my brother got back to Arizona with his tint scraped off.

I had a situation like that happen. I was pulled over in WY for no front plate. I lived in UT at the time. The cop looked up the law for UT regarding front plates and issued me a ticket (or maybe it was a warning...dont remember).

CA sucks for not allowing ANY front-side tint. It really should be some % transmission limit, just for traffic-stop officer safety.
