Tongue ring on girls...
I still say do it if you want to. Might as well do it now, since you can't go back in time if you don't do it. If you don't like it, take it out. If you think a tongue ring infers promiscuity, and you're not into that image, then forget it, no big deal.

Years ago, I had a tongue ring, and I can tell you from experience, it causes very expensive dentist bills.

Believe it or not I even once saw a pierced uvula ( the thingy that hangs in the back of your throat)

I'm not a fan of piercings at all. And while we're at it, I don't like chicks that wear a lot of makeup, even a moderate amount is usually too much for me.

j/kI guess I'm too old to understand how anyone finds this attractive. There is so much diversity and variation in everyone's appearance and personality that all you have to do to be unique is just be yourself .
Good luck with whatever you choose.
TepEvan how do you figure that Clit and nipple piercings are for exhibitionists
Most people that get these never show anyone except for their s/o that's the good thing about those piercings as opposed to eyebrows etc where everyone gets a view.
As far as talking funny, when you get your tongue pierced it will swell there's nothing you can do to avoid that. But depending on how well you look after it and the quality of the jewellry it can go down in a day or two but for that period you will talk poorly. Because of this swelling you need a longer bar to fit your tongue and if you dont change it over then you're going to continue to talk poorly because it gets in the way.
Infections and prolonged swelling are caused by either cheap jewellry, poor aftercare, or a combination of both. Any piercing jewellry should have an internal thread to ensure that it doesn't tear the peircing when you insert it, this is usually a good indication if the jewellry is cheap and to be avoided at all cost. If you pierce your tongue you need to use mouthwash regularly and avoid eating solids until the swelling goes down and you get used to having the jewellry in.
The pain..... there is none. Sorry but anyone who tells you it hurt is either lying or they've gone to a really bad piercing studio because it is less painful then even getting your ear pierced. Your nipple on the other hand is excruciating but only for the 10s or so that it takes to pierce and place.
Your teeth are at risk that's for sure. I always used plastic ends with a metal bar because that's the bit that you would bite if there was an accident or if the end comes off when your eating and you chew it. I only done that once and it just cracked the jewellry and didnt hurt at all. Friends that used metal jewellry have cracked their teeth doing this so definitely dont use metal ends. But then dont use a plastic bar either because they can splinter your tongue if they break. My bottom front teeth have lost their enamel though, they dont feel as smooth on the inside because the bottom end used to collide sometimes.
I had my tongue ring for probably about 4 years and only one of my clients spotted it and I had been dealing with her for about 2 years before she noticed. But on the other hand you can see them straight away on some people, I think that if you want to conceal it then you can, just be mindful of it.
The image thing is something that you have to judge IMO. If you flash it around for all to see then its like advertising and guys are gonna think things (like they weren't thinking about it before they seen it
) But if you're taseful about it then its just like having your ear done IMO.
Dang, sorry for the long post but I find a lot of what has been posted so far as being far from what I experienced. Piercings always have bad stories associated with them because you always here the bad experiences, they make good stories. The truth is that your mouth is potentially the fastest healing environment on your body and if you decide that you dont like it then you can take it out and it'll close within a day or so. After 4 years mine took about a week to close over.
Monkei were you left with a hole or was that something that you were told?

Aside from ear piercings on women, every piercing and tattoo a girl has increases a guys chances for getting action by 10 percent. Multiple piercings and tattoos are "usually" a cry for attention.----what ever happened to purity?
