what is *your* purpose in life?
my purpose is to enjoy the time i have...whether that is through activities, people, or lifestyle. if i died tomorrow, i would be happy with the time i have already used. sure there are always things i want to do..but for my age, i have done a lot. this thread brings two songs to mind -
U2 - I still havent found what im looking for
Paul Van Dyk - We are alive

Scot, what do you fine your purpose as? Is your "purpose" to do something good for the world? If so what is doing something good for the world exactly? Is it to live life to the fullest? What defines living life to the fullest?
I feel like I should be doing as much as I can to help others and conquer the world as much as possible.... make a difference.... something!
It seems like just about everyone i know goes to work, comes home, eat, maybe go to the mall, go to bed... repeat....
1 woman I know is always on the go with extra work at her school (she is a counselor), she takes underprivelaged kids places, created new programs at her school, etc....... very respectible...
Just thought i would see what others are doing to live a fullfilled / purposeful life.
Hey Scot
If there is a purpose to life, it's reproduction. You're doing that. Everything else is subjective. Live life to enjoy it and let that enjoyment take you where it will.
Don't do stuff because someone lays a guilt trip on you religous or otherwise. That's their thing. Do your own.
When that feeling hit me, I got involved with food banks, feeding hungry people regardless of who or what they are was my way of resolving it. That led to yoko ono promoting rock concerts and all kinds of crazy things I never thought I do.
In my book if there's a subjective meaning to life it's to enjoy it your way not someone elses.

What a question! Douglas Adams theorized (in his oversized trilogy "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy") that the meaning of life is "42". Therefore, the purpose of life must be to, indeed, resolve your life into "42".
In all seriousness, my purpose in life is to make a significant difference in the lives of those with which I come in contact. How? By reflecting Jesus Christ in every aspect of my being. Not necessarily in words but more in actions.
That is my purpose, clear and simple. By extension, that means being the absolute best father, son, husband, employee, friend and citizen possible. That means going the extra mile, even when you're not asked to do a thing. That means putting others before myself and giving more than taking.
It never gets old. Tiresome at times, sure, but it never gets old. The rewards far outstrip the work and there's never a shortage of ways to keep improving.
As far as hypocrites and religion go, they only prove that the real thing is out there somewhere (true Christians). You can't mimic something that doesn't exist...
