"I do not consent" is a mixed bag. In lots of places, if you do not consent, they bring a canine in. If the canine makes any kind of fuss, probable cuase and you get searched anyway.
Not exactly. They need probable cause to bring in the canine. Or else, they are illegally detaining you.

Interesting video ... Wonder what would happen if I said the same stuff to a real officer on a traffic stop. In Fairfax County, VA the cops have a reputation of being jerks, especially with drivers of modified import cars.

Thanks for the link!
No kidding. I see cops searching cars all the time here. I always feel badly for the people with all their stuff strewn all over the side of the road. I never saw that when I lived in Massachusetts.

This video is very interesting. So I'm guessing when a cop pulls you over and asks to pop the hood, you can simply say "I do not consent to my car being"? What can the cop do after saying that line?
Threaten to call in the illegal CARB dogs I guess. That's why you follow it with "Am I free to go" to see if you are being illegally detained.

Remember, even if they do use some lame excuse like suspicious behavior, as long as you don't waive your rights, you can possibly get any evidence the cops find suppressed in court if the reason for the search is wanting. The big thing is people give up their rights.

This reminds me of the Cops tv show - over and over again you see people doing stupid things that end up getting them arrested, but half the time its simply letting cops search the car when they simply ask.

Also, if a cop says "you're free to go", you're free to go - get the hell away.

Great Video! I think everyone should watch it afew times to become more familiar with their rights and to help limit the abuse of power so many officers practice.
