Siggghhh winter prep for me involved a good coat of wax, a car cover, and finding the keys to the Subaru.

I wish I could drive the s2k...I'm sure it'd be pretty fun with LSD, VSA, and a set of studded Hakka5s. I miss my old AE86 with LSD and studded winters...

For those who have driven their s2k's in previous winters, did you ever have any issues with ground clearance from the snow?
Maybe one day per winter in Calgary. Edmonton or Winterpeg might be another story.

Also, Dufter, thats a good idea what kind of winter floormats are you running and where did you pick them up? My factory floormats are red and i imagine they will get pretty dirty in a hurry should i leave them in for the winter..
I traced my Muz mats (which cover the whole floor, unlike the factory mats), onto some industrial hall runner rug from Revy/Home Depot. Been using them for 5 winters and the still work and look great.

I like that idea.

Did the stuff flex over the cross member on the floor okay? Or did you have to heat it to mold it or anything?

Also wondering does anybody else have a hardtop installed on their car? I installed mine a couple months ago and it has been great for insulating the car against the elements and keeping the heat in the cabin.

I wasn't sure how the factory soft top would hold up in the winter so i opted to go for the hardtop. For those who use the soft top how does it fare in the cold? I see most of you on this board have an 02+ so at least you have the rear glass window. Not sure if the plastic rear window on my 01 would have help up..

Yeah, no problem. It's pretty thin stuff, so it flexes pretty well. It's not as form fitting over the hump as the Muz mats are, but it works more than well enough.

My cabin is very warm; you can't even tell it's a softtop. I park inside at home and work, but if I didn't, I might be concerned with heavy snow sitting on it.

If I had a plastic rear window, I probably would have gotten hard top or a glass window conversion because there's no defogger on the plastic window.

well the cabin is sooo small... it heats up pretty quickly... when i had my 00 with plastic it was fine... just wouldnt use the top when it was cold incase of it cracking... but i also put the tint stuff on like what xviper does to protect the plastic window from scratches from wiping away snow using the brush

I think a good number of people have gone through many winters with 00-01's, Jay's one of em. I have never had any fear for my top, just avoided having too much weight on it. It's never outside for more than several hours at a time in the snow anyway so it's not a huge pain to deal with the few times there's serious snow. Or I'll just leave it at home in the garage.
