Dave, if you have an HD box, HD is free.
True this. I just don't watch those 6 channels much. I may change my mind once I can view them in real HD.

Now, all I need is a cable with DVI on one end (Shaw PVR box) and HDMI on the other for the TV.

I'm actually ready now. If I'm going to buy them online, I should order now so it's here by the time the TV arrives. The place I'm buying the TV from says they will sell me the cable at cost (didn't ask how much) but I'd be interested to see what option you have. Please post here or PM me the details.

I've seen the one I need (2 meter length, DVI male/HDMI male) in a U.S. site for about 40 US. I'll also need long lengths of cable to connect my PC (monitor and audio) outputs to the TV. Is it simply the same type of cable that my PC monitor currently is connected to the PC with now?

I get my TosLink or DVI/HDMI cables from here:

http://american-audio-video.com/

DVI/HDMI 6 ft = $42.50
DVI/HDMI 12 ft = $47.50
TosLink Optical 6 ft = $6.95
TosLink Optical 12 ft = $8.95

He also sells on ebay under AmericanAv, you can usually get a great deal on the DVI/HDMI cables from him there.

http://cgi3.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?View...rid=american-av

DVI/HDMI 6 ft = $19.95
DVI/HDMI 12 ft = $24.50
TosLink Optical 6 ft = $5.75
TosLink Optical 12 ft = $7.75

Above is all in US $.

Compare to Future Shop....

TosLink optical 6ft = $30
12 ft DVI/HDMI cable = $150

Thanks guys. I will check these out and compare with Future Shop and the cost price from Visions.

Future Shop and London Drug prices on these cables are INSANE! They want upwards of $200.00 (depending upon length) for even a short cable. Unfortunately, Visions doesn't carry the cable, only the adaptor. I want just the cable with two different ends.
I've found a Calgary company that sells these things at a very good price:
http://www.wirelessnetworksonline.com/stor...ablesbyacc.html

68 bucks from their website catalogue but you can go to their store and buy it in person for the same price.
http://www.cablesbyacc.com/products/catalo...ry=Audio/Visual
I also found the VGA cable at a good price from them, too.

Just saves on having to import them from the US and dealing with shipping and brokerage, etc.

I found even cheaper prices than from the company Matrix posted but they won't ship to Canada.

The cables I ordered from AmericanAV always came via USPS and no brockerage, just duty - which was next to nothing on a few 10s of dollars...but I am glad you saw what kind of fleecing Future Shop does on items like this.....

I got hosed on my monster cable DVI cable... $180 or so for 2 metres (whatever A&B 's regular price is on it)

I guess they needed to make up for the fact that I got my Sony TV at cost + 3%,
