Default Windshield replacement?

I recall that there was some discussion a ways back about the best place to get a new windshield (did a search, but no matter what the keyword all I get is a "404 - Not Found" error).

I don't have glass insurance, so I'm looking for somewhere that's not going to cost an arm and a leg, but I'm OK paying a bit more for a good windshield.

Anyone had a replacement done lately that was happy with the job? Anywhere to avoid?

BTW, I've still got the original windshield, and up until a couple of weeks ago it had no cracks, only a half dozen or so chips that I had filled before they turned into cracks...then I took a TINY rock hit about a half inch from the edge of the windscreen and it cracked while I was driving.

I had mine done at the Cal-Alta South location about a month ago. I used my Insurance coverage so the cost was higher than the $3xx as discussed in the thread. I think it was closer to the $500 mark but then they paid my insurance deductible for me. Did a decent job but I think they stuck the rear view mirror back on a bit higher than originally. Not a big deal so I just left it.

Mike.

I had mine done at the North location and it was great. Took 45 minutes, and only about $312 tax included. Highly recommended and probably the best price in town with quality workmanship.

Had the windshield done today...I have no glass insurance, so was pleased that total cost including GST was only $240.75. Curiously, my rearview mirror also seems to be mounted a little higher...asked the installer about it and he said they stuck it on the mounting point that came on the windshield.
