Default 06 rear speaker setup in a ap1

Hey all,

I was wondering if anyone knows or has done this before. I already order them so its a little to late but want to know if anyone has ever put the 06 or up rear speakers in there ap1? and i'm not talking about the ones that go on the back of the headrest on the seat. I'm talking about the oem roll bar covers with the speakers built into them. I bought both roll bar covers with the speakers but didn't think about if they fit over my 03 roll bars. Does anyone know would be very appreciative. Thanks

Honestly, I wouldn't bother trying to install them. They sound like shit. I installed some front components and powered the components with an amp, but left the "rear" tiny speakers hooked up to the headunit.. I tried them out for a whole 5 mins, and realized it sounds MUCH better w/ them off than on. They're basically tweeters, and it messes up the sound stage by having them on. Heck, I don't like any "rear" speakers in the s2k. A good pair of components and an amp is the way to go imo.

x2.

I have an 07 and even my installer said to ignore the rear speakers. I went with a deck and componets and it makes a heck of a difference.

modifry makes some upgraded speakers for the 06+ roll hoops. I, along with a friend, installed these and they made quite a difference. They didn't come factory on my car, but my friend with the 06 said they're a huge improvement over stock

as stated before, those rears are garbage (imo)... only good if your running all stock speakers and you drive top down a lot. even then, when you turn it up... they sound pretty gargled unless you throw a crossover in it and adjust the frequencies.

I just put some Morel Maximo's in the rear using the S-Pods, Sound Great. They sound Great especially with the top down at cruising speed. Stock Head unit with Morel Maximo's on all four corners with a USA SPEC iPod adapter, Couldn't be Happier.

While the Modifry upgraded speakers probably improve the sound, I just don't see the point, honestly. I have a decent pair of components (just some polks) w/ an amp driving them, and they can get PLENTY loud, enough to hurt my ears and not be distorting, going down the highway at 80 w/ the top down (which is quite noisy). Just get a decent set of components and power them with an amp and you'll get the best SQ imo.

I like so many other s2k owners have thought about upgrading the sound system. I've thought about going all out and getting the amp/speakers/hu/sub. But then I think to myself, heeck I didnt buy the car for the sound, lol. I think I'll wait on the whole sound system thing, but when I do go ahead and upgrade, I think a decent HU/comp speakers/amp will do me just fine. How big of an amp should I get to power component speakers. I'm looking for a nice clean sound, with good bass. Nothing to crazy. Alpine is what I'll be getting [ $500 ] budget.
