06 roll hoops with speakers in a 00 vehicle with aftermarket deck
Hey all,
I have acquired some 06 roll hoops with the oem speakers in them to install into my 01 car. there are 4 speakers in the roll hoops but only 2 speaker outputs from my after market deck.
has anyone done this upgrade to there 2001 vehicle. I am not sure of how to run the speakers in series or in parallel ?
anyone have any input.
thanks
Lee

you sure you deck doesn't have more leads? are you using the internal amplifier of the deck? or an external?
colors should be purple, green, gray or white. i've yet to see a deck that only had two channels.

When I first read the OP I took it the same way you did, but I believe he was trying to say that
he has two rear channels, but four rear speakers (two left and two right), and wanted to know how
to wire them. It looks like he's answered his own question, but if not...
Best way would be to check the impedance of one of the speakers with a multimeter. If it's substantially
above 4 ohms, they would be wired in parallel (which reduces the circuit impedance); if well below
4 ohms, series (which increases the circuit impedance).
Wiring in parallel would be left + speaker wire to both left speaker +'s, and left - wire to both left speaker -'s.
Right would be similar.
Wiring in series would be left + speaker wire to one left speaker +, that speaker's - to the other left speaker's +,
and that speaker's - to the left - wire. Right would be similar.
