Default Alarm question

Before I had the Viper 5002 install. With the OEM system, the aux lights would go on after I pressed the unarm button. Once the key is in the On position, there should be some light. Once the car is started, there should be some light.

Now with the viper installed, there are no outside lights what-so-ever, until I turn on the headlights.

Is this a feature, or did the installer screw up somewhere.

Another problem. While the car is armed. I can hold the trunk release button and the trunk will open, but the alarm doesnt go off. Until I slam shut the trunk, then it will go off . This is dumb. I talked to the guy and he say the the alarm trigger is connected to the trunk light and there is not enough power to trigger it. Is there a fix for this.

I have the same alarm and I would think it would go off. Have you tried opening your trunk with just the key and see if hte alarm goes off? I haven't fully studied all the settings on this alarm (I just finished installing it last weekend) but i'll let you know what i find. pm me so i'll remember. lol dont go much in the elec section

You have a bad installer.... the alarm should go off if you open the trunk , now if your pushing trunk pop from the aftermarket alarm it won't go off, but if your pushing trunk open from the OEM remote , or from inside the cab it should go off. When your slamming the trunk its setting off the shock sensor... also pop your hood when the alarm is on and see if it goes off.... lazy installers won't hook up a trunk or hood pin which is what it sounds like right now.... as far as the lights part that's from the factory and can't be interfaced fully....
