Alpine iDA-X001
Another question, as I plan on installing tomorrow....
Am I reading correctly? Can you NOT have the USB cable AND the FULL SPEED CABLE connected at the same time? I wanted to use the full speed for my IPOD, and connect the USB so I can upload some wallpapers....do I have to use the USB for the ipod if I want the USB to work?

I resolved my USB issue. It was the 4 gb Lacie it has a auto start, I dont know why
My 2 gb Sandisk works great, key on/off or am / fm right where I left it
Lacie 4gb has a auto start
Alpine said "the 160 uses power through computer to work, the alpine usb does not have enough power to run it "
I still want try the 160
Dimmer issue, I has turned the dimmer off and just close the door on the radio. Hopefull Bob at Modifry will have a answer or be able to exchange this DCI
I really like to see my text and time while driving, it is blinding bright at night with dimmer in OFF mode
I had my 4G ipod connected to the 422 cable and now the usb connected to a 2gb sandisk all the time

Dave-
There are 2 different plug-in points on the back of the unit (one for USB, the other for Full Speed). You can have both connected all day long. If a USB drive is hooked up with an iPod on the FullSped connection, the USB will be source "USB" and the iPod will be "iPod2". If you plug in a 5th gen iPod to the USB connection (comes with an iPod adapter), that will be source "iPod" and the fullspeed will be "iPod2".
So, yes, you can have both hooked up and running simultaneously. I left the USB rolled up in the netting on the passenger's side.

I tried this out today. the USB input works amazing! I just plugged my SanDisk into it at Best Buy and it started playing instantly.
Anyone have anything negative to say about it? I wish the knob was not in the middle of the deck, seems like the shifter might get in the way while searching for songs.

I wish the knob went 360 degrees.
