Default Alpine IVA-D0310 Will it work?

Hello everyone,

I have an '06 S 2000 and am interested in replacing the "stock" radio with either an Alpine IVA-D0310 or the Kenwood KVT-815 in dash units. Both of these head units have a retractable screen that extends and then folds up for view.

I have three questions:

1. Has anyone installed either one of these units into the car ? does it fit and will it allow the display to "clear" the dash?

2. Is their a cable available to allow the "dash controls" to control either one of these units? I read about a cable for other Alpine units but I need to know specifically for either of these units.

3. Can either one of these radio units be installed on the S2K and "still allow the door to close across the front of the dash to get the "hidden" look?

Thanks

Eric

1. Nope. It will hit the shifter on the way out, and will hit the dash when it flips up, then your fist will go through the screen on an aggressive 2-3 shift. Flip outs do NOT work in the S2000. You can cut the dash and put it in there, though, but something tells me you are going to an OEM look.

2. Doesnt matter, as it will not fit. Check the Marketplace. Modifry sells DCI (Dash Control Interfaces) for pretty much any HU. If he does not make it, he can modify one (you will just need to send him the IR remote that comes with the HU).

3. Doesnt matter, as it will not fit.

Check out the Gallery for pics of some installs. You can install a 2-DIN until (IVA-W200) in the dash with a modified JDM navigation bezel, and will will look DAMN close to OEM with a good install.

^^ Uh yeah Everything John said... none of the large screens will fit. However I think JVC makes a 3" screen that will.
