Hello,
I just installed this also. The cable end is kind of large to fit in a small hole. i think mine is like 1/2" in size maybe. I placed it in the lower center of the glove box. I took a lot of pic's of the install. I was running Clarion but switched to Alpine. I am running the Ipod 4G 40GB, Alpine CDA 9847 and the ipod interface. I have pic's of the install also. I used a hole plug from the installers at Best Buy and it looks like factory. Let me know if you want to see it and I can do a write up and put it on here. I am just waiting for my DCI to come back cause i had to send it in because it was for the Clarion and wouldn't work with the Alpine. I still have a little work to do such as getting the Spods and adding a 4 ch amp. I already have a sub installed. I did all of the work myself. I found a guy that will bulid me a Fiberglass sub box for like 125.00 plus cost of materals. So I am changing out my sub box soon. The one i bulit was my first time doing it so it is ok. I am just trying to get it a little better. If I can help let me know.

Please post it
I'm think of getting the Alpine CDA-9855 or CDA-9851 and would love to see how other S owners have their setup
I have taken all of the pic's that I think I need. How do I post the pic's in with the write up. Once I have this info I will get it on here. If not just give me a email and i can email it to you .
Can anyone comment on the scroll speed of the ipod/alpine adapter interface? Is it still annoyingly slow or is it now acceptably fast with a late '04 early '05 alpine headunit? I'm still using the adapter with an '03 CDA-9815.
You can't post pictures unless you have "Member" status.
I had the Ipod adapter unit installed (velcro + screws) under the passenger seat. I connected it to a KCA-410c versatile link terminal (also under the seat) and from there to a Alpine CDA-9851 headunit.
I place my iPod in the small center console bin. A small hole was drilled to allow the dock connector wire into the bin.
The scrolling with the headunit controls is very, very slow, but it works. The sound is great.
The picture shows the KCA-420i and KCA-410C units mounted under the seat.
Let me second the ghastly slow scrolling on the CDA-9847. I am considering upgrading my HU just to improve that one item. I can't find the music I want because I have to scroll thtrough too long of a list and it takes forever.
On the plus side, install of this was very clean and easy, I use the little strap in the glove box to hold mine and it looks quite nice.
