^^Alpine boasts a 150% increase using Alpine HU's and speakers. I did notice a difference, enough to not to have to crank the system as high as I previously did to hear my music clearly with the top down.
Not sure the iDA HU will have enough power to push through to four speakers. You would have to splice the wires as well. You would be better off getting a full amp and adding another set of speakers.

Hi there, re-hashing this thread,
I'm wanting to overhaul my factory 02' sound system, and looking at a new headunit + Set of good 6.5'' component speakers.
I don't really want to install a amp and go through that hassle, rather some good speakers and perhaps the plug n play power pack amp such as alpine 445, which gives 45 RMS per channel.
I was looking at getting some JL Audio C3 650's
Would the alpine 445a 45RMS be enough to drive these speakers?
Cheers

Those speakers, with a sensitivity rating of 90 dB are neither particularly efficient nor particularly
power hogs. In a quieter car 45wpc would likely be sufficient; in the s2000 it may be ok or you
might want a little more headroom.
That said, if you don't mind splicing together your own adapter harness rather than relying on a plug&play
version, you can use the ktp-445u ("u" for universal) version which can be bridged to give 90w x 2.

Yea I did think about the Ktp-445 "U' but this version isn't compatible with the modifry DCI ive already ordered lol (mentions it in the description of the URL)

I think I'll try the new Alpine HU + KTP-445A + JL Components and see what I think. Can always go down the path of a more powerful amp in the future.

My system was installed a long time ago....2004-2005ish on my 2004 S. Alpine CDA-9857 HU, an XM receiver and Alpine Type-S component door speakers....along with OEM dealer installed head-rest speakers. A few years ago, I added the KTP-445 and it made quite a difference.....not blown away, but a nice boost in volume and clarity. My KTP-445 is mounted on the passenger side behind the knee panel. Just wrapped a 1" velcro "loop side" taped around the middle of the 445 and used a large zip-tie over the velcro. Plenty of room in that location. Will be adding a JBL "spare tire" powered sub-woofer within the next few weeks, hoping this will finally fill-in the lack of lower-end bass. BTW, I ran the XM antenna lead through the center console and hidden compartment and mounted the antenna behind/adjacent to the middle of the wind deflector. Never had any reception issues with the top up or down in 16 years.
