Default Alpine type-X 6.5" Components

Will these fit in my '05 with little to no hassle, or will it have problems with stock size and mounting depth?

Thanks in advance.

Odds are that you will have to make your own "spacer/baffle" or modify the existing stock basket to accomodate the new speaker. However, it's really quite simple and not that big of a deal at all. I modified the stock baskets with a Dremel in little to no time. I believe there are some speakers that will be a direct drop-in or require very little hacking of the basket, but I don't know which ones off the top of my head.

Do note that you may want to protect the rear/magnet of your mid with either approach as the rear will now be exposed. I used XTC Baffles and essentially cut most of the back off leaving enough to function as an umbrella. Otherwise, the sound will suck and you could potentially damage your speaker with an unmodified XTC baffle since you would be making the speaker work in an enclosure when it shouldn't be.

I have the Alpine type-x speakers. You will need to trim the back off the stock basket and if you use your car as a daily driver you should as Jawknee said protect them.

That's more information I need. I appreciate it alot because I was very concerned on the mounting depth and it doesn't look like a alot of room there. Those pics give me a great idea what I'm in for.

Thanks guys!

Actually, there is not that much room. There is only like 1.79" from the interior side of the door frame to the window track. Many speakers with LARGE magnets / deep mounts will just not fit without a spacer.

i fit my pioneers which are 2 3/4 i believe
infinit kappa are about the same
i still have plenty of room. i just reuse the stock spacer and cut out the backing.

one more option is if you still dont have enough
remove the front stopper of the glass.

You really should just leave the window alone, there's really no need to touch that. Just add another spacer made from MDF.

w/Darkknight. I was referring to the interior sheet metal panel to the window frame. That was not including the stock bracket (which some speakers will not fit into). I was simply stating that some speakers with deeper mounting depths will not fit into the stock spacer, and will not fit in unless some sort of spacer is made. I just made this comment, as I think he is referring to a set of pretty much drop-in speakers. Just stating that all speakers that are "6.5" are not always going to fit.

Either way, its just as easy to make an MDF spacer .
