Alternator Hummmmmmm
Well:
Chris, I did not have the whine before taking to the shop...
No body work was done up front, rear fender and bumper, as well as a new trunk lid were installed...
I shortened the ground wire to under 1'-6", and sanded the ground area down some more and the whine comes and goes, drives me nuts, I bought a ground loop isolator and have yet to install. I will try making sure the battery is tight.

I'd look for an alternate source of EMI - I had a similar problem
when the tech forgot to tighten something down, causing a wire to
rub against the alternator pulley. Lots of noise until the wire was
cut. Is the noise coming from all speakers?

If it definitively came after the body shop, it sounds like a grounding issue. Have you found any other ground around that area (not just shortening the cable, but a whole other bolt)?

All my wiring in the engine bay runs through the wiper cowl...
You should be able to ground to the old spare tire anchor thread... You will need a different bolt, so it fits flush when tightened, instead of the exposed wing-nut on the old one. You can attach the grounding wire, then put the amp rack (assuming its a spare-tire area rack) over the ground when its installed.
There should be a few areas around there to ground (one is over the gas tank area... shady for a ground spot and I think there is another a foot or two toward the front of where you are grounded now to the metal reinforcement that is RIGHT behind the rear trim panel on the passenger's side)... I will see if I cant take a few pics this weekend.

Yes, please take pics of the other spot if you get a chance!

Update 6/7
I tried re-grounding to the spare tire thread, still there. I then tried the Ground Loop Isolator I bought, did not work.
Is it possible overspray got into my crossovers and f-ed them up? There is a fair amount on the outside casing and there are maybe 1/4 holes all across the top....
