Anybody know how to take off the stereo cover thing?
Yeah Im looking to finally upgrade my mediocre stock system and was wondering how I would go by removing the stock headunit? Anyone that has already done this let me know and also tell me what type of headunit you chose....
Go to Macgyver's (Dan's) audio page. He's got it all.

I chose the Alpine CDA-7876 with four speakers and I'm really happy with it. For now, I'm not planning an amp or speaker upgrade. Time will tell.

Utah S2K, I've kept my xr600 speakers in the front and added lucid's Polk ex402a in the rear.
I'm very happy with this setup. lucid's speakers really filled things out. With four channels driven, I've got clear sound and adequate volume sound at 80 mph with the head loafing (20 out of 35 arbitrary volume units).
I've also rewired the xr600 speakers in front to run through the 16 gauge wire I strung a few weeks ago.
These four speakers have no trouble as long as I set the high pass filter on the Alpine head at 120 hz or 160 hz. At low volume settings, I can have the high pass filter off.
I suspect that a cheap, small, simple subwoofer such as the Kelton subwoofer Honda was going to offer would nicely complete the system.
How much below 160 hz signal do I get with headphones or from my table radio or my Prelude's factory stereo?
Thanks for asking.... Now to arrange our side by side radar test

Since this is probably the hardest part for most people, here's a pic of where the clips on the doorframe are:
The top 2 are tabs, the rest are metal clips
don't worry if you break it, its like a $20-30 part anyway.

Ah! But does anyone know how to get the door out of the frame? I scratched and bent the outer frame of my radio door so much that I bought a new one -- but I can't figure out how to disassemble the old on to transfer the door and springs to the new frame.
It's a real puzzler.
