Default Anyone mount gauges on dash in front of driver?

I am putting in some defi gauges (oil temp, oil press & egt) and am considering mounting them on the dash directly in front of the driver, above the cluster but further forward almost against the windshield.

These are 60mm gauges, and I am wondering if anyone else has put them here because I want a pic to see how much of the view they will obstruct, if any. Ultimately, I will be winding up with 4 or 5 defi's straight across there (boost and water temp to be added later).

I am planning to put my AEM wideband display in a single gauge pod on the a-pillar, but it is a 52mm so even one defi wouldn't work in a dual pod. Also, I find that the gauge on the top of the pod is difficult to read while driving in general, and want to avoid 2 on the a-pillar.

SOS sells a dual pod 52mm which you can cut with a dremel to fit the defi- I am doing this for my uego and boost- the rest in the dash-

That in-dash setup is nice, but it won't do me any good personally. I want the gauges in front of me so I can see a warning light go on, especially when I am on the track. I can't be looking over to my right and down at the dash to check them.

The a-pillar would work for seeing the warning lights, but again it can be difficult to read them in that location (I do like the look). It takes extra time to accomodate to gauges that are inches in front of your face on the a-pillar (particularly the upper gauge in a 2 gauge pod) when you have been focusing on the horizon.

I guess I will cut out a piece of cardboard the same size and place it on my dash, to see how obtrusive the gauges will be to my field of view directly in front of me on top of the dash. I have searched thoroughly and it seems nobody on here has placed them there.

It would be MUCH wiser to mount the gauges in the dash, and have LEDs put somewhere visible as warning lights in your field of view.

I was going to say the same thing- since the gauges are not really something you can read while at the track at speed- the warning lights can be set in a specific order where you know first is X Y Z-

Because you think putting the gauges on the dash will block my field of view?

I didn't think of separate LED's, that is a good idea... I have to say the above post with the Defi's in the center of the dash does look pretty slick.

Hmmm it seems the defi "indicator" may be what I am after... it isn't listed under products on their site but after seeing reference to it, I managed to find it there. The link display also may work, since it would mean just mounting that one piece in front of me.

The display may work for you and it would take up alot less room- and if just for track days you may even consider a gooseneck mount-
