ok so I talked to PAC today and this is what we come up with.

-I need to unhook the interface wire (white) from the white wire on the car harness
-Hook the interface wire (white) to the red/green wire on the car harness
-Cut the purple wire loop and the inner wire (close to the black wire) hook a 300 ohm resistor to it and then tie it into the interface wire (white)

I will try this tomorrow but he also said the only way to get mute to work is to get a relay to change 12v to negative 12 on the mute wire when the mute button is pressed. Anyone know anything about this?

yes you do need to get a relay from like autozone or radio shack in order for mute to work, it wasnt that hard. im pretty sure the directions covered everything your having trouble with

I'm nit-picking, but it's green/red, not red/green.

In this case there is no red/green in the connector so it's not a big deal to make the distinction but other places in the car they do have color1/color2 and color2/color1 wires in the same connector and you need to be careful to get the right one. For the radio, if you get the wire with both green and red you'll be OK.

They are correct on the mute - you need a relay or transistor to make it work when using PAC. Mute is on a separate wire from the rest of the dash controls which is why the PAC can't see it, and even if it could see the signal it doesn't have an output for a wired mute function.

This PAC sounds like a real pain in the ass. I don't know why people aren't just buying the DCI.

If reusing the device in another vehicle in the future is the concern, it's still possible with some Modifry DCIs. Realistically when you move to a new car, are you pulling everything out and installing it in the new vehicle? If so, are your really that opposed to getting a pre-configured adapter for it then?

Sorry, not to hijack things here. Sounds like you've got the info from them that you need. I am quite surprised it requires soldering in a resistor, and that they're aware of that being a hurdle and still selling it without all the potentially necessary components!

as a PAC owner and user, i totally agree with your statement. i advise anyone who is covering their dash controls to not use the PAC unit and go with Modifry's unit. not only does the PAC unit only cover a minimal amount of functions, it is a pain in the ass to install.
