actually, the best place to ask this question may be in the Great Britain forum... i could tell you all about what the police here use, but i know you guys have at least 1 different band available that we dont' have here...

I just saw this thread searching for something else.
I've owned almost every radar detector that Escort has ever produced.
Having said that.....There is nothing and I mean NOTHING better than a Valentine One. My current detector is an Escort 8500. This is one of three Escorts that Mike Valentine did not design. (I believe the others were the 4600 and 4800). If you want a great detector then the Escort will fit your needs just fine. If you want the absolute best....Then the V1 is the only answer. It will be my next detector!
