As much as I agree with Phil, and a good shop thats honest, good with what they do is irreplacible, those shops are almost extinct, and I dont want to spend my hard earned money finding out which shop is "the one."

Now, nate you are all over the place......

You mentioned cheap a$$ amps, along with top of the line amps....Like should I get funkey pups or Helix subs??

You want a really good 4 channel amp that does 150x4 @4ohms. Forget the rears/SPODS for now. You can always buy a mono amp later down the road if you want SPODS....make sure you need more than the fronts. I am very picky about my music, and like things loud, and dont need any rears.

Figure out how much you want to spend, figure out what kind of quality you want, and then well talk. Get a definitive number. Honestly....the BEST possible solution RIGHT NOW is a really good 2 channel for the fronts....Audison, Alpha, Helix.....etc.... and a decent mono amp. And for god's sake man, buy the sh!t online.

LOL!

I have to get my money back first!

Then I can go back to the online method and start all over again.

My budget is $2500. For that, I should be able to put together more sound (and volume) than I'll ever need.

Do yourself a favor....get your money back...rule #1 in car audio....no second chances. If the milk is spoiled, putting it in the fridge for a week wont make it taste any better.

HYPOTHETICAL:

Let's say I get my money back. I have them leave the wiring and harness. I pay for that, but get my money back for all components.

Let's say I decide to shop online (acaraudio) to save money and get exactly what I want.

1) Alpine 9831 - $300
2) Focal 165K2P - $479
3) Eclipse or JL 10" sub (sealed enclosure) - $250-300
4) Amp? 150x4 @ 4 ohms.........

Based on 1-3, what would be my best amp choices? I'm still reluctant to go with the Alphasonik. So in that case, what are my other choices to get what I want and using the above equipment to go with it?

PG Xenon 200.4?

Others?

Let's figure it out so I can do it right. The milk has spoiled. And I don't like sour milk.

200.4 is a tad high.....

Although Ill find you another amp, besides Alpha....whats the reason you are reluctant....Seems to me you just never heard of them.

Anyway, if you are not comfortable, thats excuse enough.

Anyway....for the sub...hold off for a week......go to a GOOD SHOP, and have an enclosure made....for the toolwell. Shouldnt be more than 100 bucks. Forget the stealthbox.
Wait till I review my new Apha sub. I have used most subs, including Eclipse and W7s and Brahmas, etc....so you can save even more money on that.

Get an Audison LRx 250.2 from
http://www.procarstereo.com/product.jsp?pr...product_id=1788
for 479. (you can try to see if your crap shop can match it, or beat it)
Then get a sub amp.....something thats about 600wrms @ 2ohms is great.....800 is even better. Dont go crazy, sub amps arent nearly as important because the SQ doesnt become as apparent.....You can even use an Alpha for this.

Get GOOD front speakers. FORGET ABOUT THE REARS FOR NOW.

Perfects, K2Ps, whatever....something that can take 100-120wrms! not 50, not 75, not 85....get 100+

And then tell me you arent happy.

P.S. I would be more reluctant with the XENON line than the ALphasoniks, due to the fact they have entirely NEW circuity. The Alpha amps have been out for years. I also dont like the fact (although beneficial in certain situations) that tehy put out the same power at any ohm.

Just not comfortable with Alphasonik. Okay, we'll skip the PG 200.4.

I like my Clarion, but I prefer the Alpine over it.

I'd definitely do the Alpine 9831 and Focal 165K2P's.

I can hold off on a sub.

Let me check out the Audison amp. Any suggestions on that sub amp as far as what brands to look for that will give that power and work with all of the above?

Thanks again. Now we're getting somewhere.

Nate

Although people will disagree....

My friend's RSX has one of these, and the performance has been nothing but stellar, no issues of any kind.....authorized, look good, dual fans, high power output....

Here are the specs

4ohms Stereo 150 x 2
4ohms mono 300 x 1

2ohms stereo 300 x 2
2ohms mono 600 x1

1ohm stereo 450 x 2
1ohm mono 1200 x 1

These amps are EXTREMELY flexible, and preform very well. Remember, I have 2 of their amps, and have been getting nothing but great service, even though there is nothing wrong with my amps. Theyve also sent new brackets for free when my dumba$$ broke them in half

http://www.thezeb.com/detail.aspx?ID=6268
$250
These amps dont last very long at those prices......
this is the 2003 model. The 2004 is identical in every way except its the 2150HCT instead of 2150HCQ.

I dont think I can find a better sub amp for the money....and the flexibility.

I know you use Audiobahn and recommend them, but just like the Alphasonik, I'm not comfortable with it.

And remember, I want to save as much space as possible. The smaller the amps, the better. I prefer to mount them on the sides of the trunk or at an angle on the sides, so I can free up as much space as possible, thus the reason for some of my amp choices (JL Audio). I want to keep my spare tire in the car as well.

Am I asking for too much yet?

I like that Audison LRx2.250. That would be sweet. But don't I want a nice 4-channel amp rather than going the two amp route? Or will it be better to divide it up?

You dont want a 4 channel because they wont provide you with what you need. You will also have no need for rear speakers if you do your fronts right.

Another good sub amp maker.....JBL.

This is a nice amp at a nice price....

JBL BP1200.1

For $289.

Yes/No?

Im starting to see a tendency of brand shopping here. Careful, that road is a bad and expensive one.
