Default Concerns about rear speaker mounts

I've recently installed my MB Quart 5 1/4" inch speakers in the panels behind the seats, and I'm just wondering what you guys think about mounting speakers on this thin plastic panel. It just doesn't seem like a solid mounting point. I was thinking about fabricating a speaker mount from sheet metal or some other stiff thin material. What do you guys think, is it worth my time? Has anyone else thought about or done something like this?

I did this recently too - as long as you don't have any vibration I wouldn't put the extra time in. My speakers have 0 vibration and they are mounted in the same way. 5.25s don't really put off enough bass to rattle those panels.

I haven't noticed vibration yet myself, but I figured they would kick harder mounted to something more solid. I have noticed that they do rattle a little going over rough roads which is what made me think that they may not be in there solid enough. But I guess you're right, not worth the time and effort. I might try putting some dynamat back there behind the speaker, as I wasn't too happy with all that bare metal so close to the speaker.

Also, I am for sure going to run an amp on the fronts, but I was thinking if I was gonna amplify the rears I'd mount them a little better.

Any body recommend a nice amp that'll fit somewhere inconspicuous in the cabin.

I've got a Sony CDX-MP70 and it's 52w peak 22w RMS per channel. It's descent, but not quite as loud and clean as the alpine. I'm not sure if I want to keep my Sony and just amplify it or go with the Alpine 9815 or similar with the V drive 60x4 I listened to my friend's alpine the other week and it sounded cleaner and louder.

Anybody interested in my HU, it's a great unit I just want a little more than I did when I bought it. How about $225 plus shipping of your choice.

I have speakers mounted in the rear panels as well, I've never noticed a rattle but then again, I'm not pushing them very hard with the amp. I haven't noticed any rattle over bumps either and I tend to be an aggresive driver.

You may still want to change the HU, but you are going to be better off in the long run with an amp IMHO.

Ya, I was talking with a stereo install guy last night, and he recommended I go with the amp for now, and if I'm still not happy then go with the head unit.

Anybody recommend a good amp that'll fit somewhere in the cabin, like under the passenger's seat or in place of the foam passenger's foot rest?

I was looking at a PPI PCX-440 4 channel amp, looks to push pretty good clean power, and I figure if I'm installing an amp at all I should amplify all four speakers. I have an older PPI amp for an old sub of mine and I was always happy with it.
