Difference between sub sizes & quality & price
I hear that a lot of people remove the back tray due to noises from the tray grinding against the metal of the car. I am still stuck the same boats as to what sub I should get. Thanks for all of your input.
This is mine. Infinity Reference 8" in a custom drop in box with a JL 200/2 amp. I have the Amp bridged for the sub so it's essentially 400/1. I have Alpine S Type door speakers, and a Kenwood X996 headunit. The door tweeters have been upgraded to Focals. I get crisp, clean, hard hitting bass in the car with extremely clear mids and highs. I have no extra sound deadening and it sounds amazing top up or down. I've had quite a few people compliment the SQ of the system.

my two 8"s provide way enuf thump. i was driving top down for about 2 hrs and i love listening to my bass and system as a whole. perfect even @ 70+mph.
oh and for the rattle on the glove box door, i applied glue to the lock since i dont have much room inside due to the lower 8" takin up all the room, so no point in locking the door. i moved the trunk switch behind the drivers seat. very soon i was thinking to hollow out the entire console so no more door opening and top opening to allow 0 rattle and more room for subs to breathe.

I was having trouble making the same decision: 8-inch vs 10-inch subwoofer. I had a JL 10w3v3 powered by a JL 500/3 in my last S2000 (sub was getting 300 watts RMS) and was pretty impressed by the bass I got out of it. At times I wondered if it was too much bass. For my current S2000 I re-visited the debate. Do I really need a 10-inch subwoofer...or can I get by with an 8-inch? Given how advanced subwoofers are these days, I figured I could go with a smaller sub in a smaller box and still get it to "hit like a 10" (so to speak).
After talking to a few people in the car audio business, the consensus was that I should go with the 10-inch subwoofer (i.e. the 10w3v3, again) for its versatility and the fact that a lot of the bass is compartmentalized by the trunk and soft top tray (so the more power, the better). I was told that I would be better served just coasting along with a 10-inch than to have to crank up an 8-inch to compensate.
What was recommended to me was to try two 6-inch subs in the passenger footwell. Though the amount of leg room left was reasonable, I didn't want to give up any, at all.
