What a fickle system. It’s kind of comical. When I tried testing the bulbs before reinstalling the 2x 10mm bolts, I only had 1 working bulb. Put the drivers side screw in and the drivers side bulb turned on. It seems like the bolt grounds the circuit to the body.

only thing not working now are my independent map light switches. Would be pleased as punch if I could get those to work, but I’m happy to have a somewhat working dome light now.

ps Flipping the contacts of the bulb did make a difference.

 

Just to remind everyone LEDs are Light Emitting Diodes. A diode is a two-terminal electronic component that conducts current primarily in one direction (asymmetric conductance). It has low (ideally zero) resistance in one direction and high (ideally infinite) resistance in the other. That's how electricity works -- in this case.
