Easy daytime running lights mod? The simplest..
Hi all,
I'm new to the forums, and signed up because I'm looking into importing an S2000 into Canada. Most likely an 04 or 05. Anyway, to satisfy the registrar of motor vehicles in Canada you have to add daytime running lights.
I've done the research, and searched the forums and have become familiar with the method of adding the "factory like" DRLs using the module, but I also heard there was a simpler way that doesn't require any sort of module and makes use of the parking lights, or the turn signals & side markers.
Does anyone know of this mod?

Hi,
I'm in Quebec and imported my S2000 which didn't have DRL (US model).
We simply used relays that we triggered from the ignition power. The relay sees the ignition is on, then sends battery power to the HID system. I recommend 1 relay per side due to the amperage and it makes installation simpler. I also suggest you get a harness for the relay as it make it easier to change if the relay dies.
In this province, you don't need to run with your DRLs, but you need to have the functionality when passing the motor vehicles inspection, so I removed it all after inspection.
This diagram might help understand a relay:
