Default ECU monitor / data logger

All this funny talk about MAP whacking got me thinking:

An essential piece of electronics for pinpointing this type of problem is a multichannel monitor that connects to the ECU by splicing into the main connector and logs all analog and digital inputs.

Data upload can be via bluetooth or USB.

Is anyone or any company selling such a thing? Is it any good?

I'm professionally qualified to design and build the hardware, and I can write some of the low level software. I need a partner who can do the higher level analysis software, which should include basic diagnosis features like checking whether any input value is suspect, given the state and value of the other input values. Trigger for capture can be something intuitive like a sudden change in an analog input value, before the ECU reacts to it wrongly and upsets the whole system.
