My wait continues....

I purchased the power and speaker wire I needed today after work -- I was about 2 feet short on both when I started the install Sunday night. I got everything wired up and the interior put back together. Time to pop the fuse into the distro block and fire it up. Wait... where's the fuse???!!!??? I had it yesterday, but now it's nowhere to be found!!!! Crap. Oh well -- I'll have something to look forward to at lunch tomorrow, I suppose!

William, that box fit like it was made to go there! Simply outstanding! I can't wait to fire it up tomorrow!

Thanks man!

I actually yanked the fuse for my fronts and plugged it into the block -- that gave me rears (running off the HU) and the sub. I ran it that way for a few minutes just to make sure everything was hooked up ok.

cool deal...

i always keep extra fuses around for everything... at least 1 per fuse type. those AGU fuses aren't the easiest to come by, and i've been stuck before w/o tunes for a day or two until i could get another one...

how did it sound? mine thumps like crazy.... as long as i'm not in the cabin... i'm going to try the remove the tray trick tomorrow (i think...) and see how that helps.
i'll PM you the details or can post them here if you'd like.

It's a 50A MAXI blade-type fuse:

Try getting one of those at 10pm! I will be buying spares and keeping them in the secret compartment from now on!

Back to PJK3's quesiton -- that little beast in IMPRESSIVE!!! I thought I had a serious rattle and thought 'oh crap a rattle to track down.' Then I leaned against the garage door and the rattle went away!!! I'll have some tweaking to do on the crossover and filters, but from my short test, this thing is just what the doctor ordered!

The test is to sit in the drivers seat with the stereo at listening levels. If possible - turn off the sub (my Pioneer has a sub output "off" mode) . You may be very surprised at how much of the low level sound disappears.

High excursion subs are typically not super punchy. The move alot of air and generate nice natural clean bass. Opening an air path for the air to move into the cabin may help.

I find that below 65 mph with top down I get nice bass fill from the sub. Above that the ambient noise from the car, wind, engine, etc.. are very difficult to overcome (regardless of sub size).

I would also agree that turning down the gain on the focals might help.
