Thanks William for doing this!

My vote would be: Option 1, then Option 4, but could go either way, as long as either option worked with your side mounted enclosures.

Keep us posted!

The excitement builds...

Any opinions on build quality or dimensional issues as compared to the other subs you have worked with?

(I'm guessing someone with your experience can 'feel the vibes' before you even turn it on. )
The build looks like standard eD fare - nice construction and good quality components. I am thinking it will sound real good.

I looked at the fitment briefly this morning (while cleaning the garage) and I think it could even be fit into previous 8" cut enclosure re-cut for the 10"

- keep you all posted and try to get some pics up by Sunday

I remember asking you this question back in the spring about another 10" woofer I was thinking of using. I'll be quite interested if this 10 can fit where that 8 did. And if it does, what the exact size of everything is. I've actully held off adding a sub to my car for this very reason.

If this 10" sub does fit there, I may go ahead with an install in a couple of months. Very exciting stuff.

Regarding quality, performance, and cost, what would you guys recommend would be an overall better choice between the ED 10 inch K series or an Alphasonik PSW 810. I dont have an experience with either manufacturer. Assuming both speakers are housed in their optimal enclosure volume, which would be a better choice. I am trying to decide whether to wait for the ED 10k in a Wlaurent box or go with the Alphasonik 10 in a custom box in the tool well. Both speakers would be running at 500 watts rms.

I'd take the eD every time. I suspect most would. Their products are very highly respected and I've never seen anything less than a stellar review of their products.

PAS2KNut (Jim) has helped me get as far as I am with audio.

I believe he knows WLaurent as well.

If William thinks this is a good thing, maybe Jim would be nice enough to give us a side by side comparison with the PSW810? (Once we get that far.)

Also, will the eD 10 connect to a SoundStream Van Gogh 500.4 properly?

I am looking forward to some quality audio in the S.

Thank you all for your help.

Now I would believe that if we where talking about the O series of ED subwoofers it would be a different discussion, but I am wondering if their lower line the K line is as good a performer as the O line which many on this board rave about (8 inch model in particular). I know both JIM and Dave(nfrs2000nyc), have said the alphasonik is the best 10 they have ever owned, but I am wondering about the K series. I want to weigh out all my options before I choose. I looked at the W7 line of JL audio, and they look impressive and on paper they are spectacular, but I am not willing to pay over $350 for a 10 inch sub, when it could only realistically marginally outperform the other 10 inch subs out there. How much better can a 10 inch sub get, that costs $200 more???

Well after doing a bit of research on the ED subs, I have decided to just go with the Alphasonik. Seems the K series in the past has had a problem with the spiders. Dont want to deal with any problems blowing subs.

Where did you here that they were having problems with spiders?

Anywho - got the sub mounted today and did a little testing, but did not drive it very hard. For some reason my JL 500/1 does not like new DVC 2 ohm loads when the subs are brand new - the amp starts turning off if you hit it to hard. If I run them for a few hours at lower volume levels it then tends to work fine. I am not sure if it is my amp being picky or if breaking in the subs has anything to do with it. Do not have the same problem if I connect two seperate 4 ohm subs (stil a two ohm load) - just when I connect a 4ohm DVC sub.

I will get some play time on it tomorrow. Early impression of the sub is akin with something along the lines of a JL 10W3.

Regarding the Alphasonik 600 and 800 series subs - I like them, nice contruction, good power handling, natural sounding, etc.. They just do not make one that will work in a small enclosure like the eD K 10"
