everybody's got a sub in their trunk
Here we go...

As you can see, there we just barely enough room, but I really like how the PG 600.4 mounted vertically worked. We put the speaker-end cover on and the board that the amp is mounted to beneath has a cutout on the right side so the spare can slide out. Won't be easy, but it'll work. I've got a cap mounted under the paneling on the right hand side of the trunk. I wish I'd taken more picture when they were in the process of doing all this stuff, but I was too excited to remember.
My impressions:
Sounds great, even without the sub! That PG amp really pushes the Bostons and they sound really clear and musical even at high volume. I set the tweeters for 4db down to make up for the mids being buried down there in the door panels and the resulting sound is quite balanced. I can leave the head unit x-over settings completely flat and it sounds quite good (although I have a preset to have the bass and midrange push harder for top-down driving).
Now I'm eagerly awaiting the sub and wlaurent box (about a week backorder on the sub and the price is back up to $185 -- dang) and a lucid/modifry DCI.
As a side note, I drove the S to a nice restaurant to meet some friends for a new year's eve dinner last night and the valets gave her the glamour parking space out front, dissing a few bmws, mercedes, and porsches.

looks great! you mentioned the tweeters way down on the door? did you go w/ the stock locations?
also, the amp install looks like some quality work. i'll be curious to hear how everything sounds once the sub is in... i've been mildly considering a cap for my system. i know it probably won't improve sound quality, but my dash lights dim at volume, and i wouldn't mind trying to eliminate that minor annoyance. what size cap did you go with? i'm going to be curious to see if you have any dimming problems once the sub is setup.
and i would disagree with the above opinion on the JL's over Bostons... the JL's were unnaturally bright and very unrealisitic in their reproduction. blech.
and the Boston Rallys are very much like a classic British sound... i hadn't even thought about it that way till you mentioned it.
glad to hear it's coming together well.
