Default help!

Hey everyone - I have recently embarked on installing a system in my 05. Everything was going well and problem free....that is until today. Now I need some major help!
I've taken my time with this whole thing because I wanted it to be very clean, and I thought everything was going well until I put it all together. Here is some info about what I have and did...
-alpine 9857, and pdx 4.150 amp
-infinity kappa perfect components
I ran the power and remote lead down the drivers side door, and the speaker wire/RCA's down passenger side.

So I was hoping you all could help me with some questions and problems!!
- questions - I put in the HU a while ago and it has worked without a hitch, but on the HU, they ask that you run a lead directly from the battery. I did that, but also spliced in the power wire from the stock harness, was I supposed to do that? So I have 3 yellow wires together and it just didn't seem right to me...
- I used 4 conductor speaker wire, and thats all I have. Its a bit confusing but i thing i did it right, you only need to run one wire (with all 4 conductors) in the door, split the wire, and run 2 wires to the woofer and 2 to the tweeter right? If i use the same wire for the amp, i need to run 1 wire with 2 conductors going to each channel right? So i only use one big wire to run 2 channels on my amp right?

Wow I hope that makes sense to someone

-Problems - now that everything is in, I put up the top and tried to roll up the windows. The passenger window wont roll up! I have no idea why, whenever i press "down" on the drivers control for that window there is a strange click coming from around the passenger door but like i said i have no clue what that is. I had a hell of a time wiring the passenger door, could i have ripped something loose???
-I connected all of the wires together and turned the car on. The amp turned on, and everything was fine at a real low level. Once i turned the radio up the whole thing would go silent. It would come back sometimes, then leave. I basically can't play music at a level I would listed to it at. Whats going on? I know the speakers can handle a lot so im not sure. I messed with the gains on the amp for a minute but no matter what the sound would cut out.

If you have any idea or suggestion at all please let me know, I'm all ears and desperate!

you didnt need to splice power from harness AND run from battery... and you def dont need to run from battery at all if you DONT use the internal amplifier (deferring to PDX instead). so just get power from harness.

i dont use 4-conductor, but i suppose you could use each PAIR of conductor (pos/neg) for each driver component (directly from separate amp channels to drivers and tweeters)... this is called bi-amping...but youd need to set crossover and gains on the amp correctly. or you could ignore half of the conductors... or use a pair of conductor as a single POS/NEG line. i just used standard 2-conductor

4 Conductor is nice for the run from the crossover to the door, assuming the xover is mounted next to the amp in the trunk (which is what I would do if I put an amp in the car). Then use 2 conductor or 4 from the amp to the crossover.

just to make sure I understand:
you have a 4-channel amp, but you are currently only using 2 of
them, correct - left front and right front? I assume you intend to
use the other channels for future expansion, i.e. adding a sub?
you should have 2 conductors (+ and -) going from each of two
channels on the amp to their respective crossovers, so a total of
4 conductors leaving the amp.
each of the two crossovers should have 4 conductors going to
that side's speakers (+ and - to woofer & + and - to tweeter)

Hey guys,
Thanks for your help, I got everything figured out today in about 5 minutes - all my problems were from what I hoped...my stupidity. After looking at everything again after taking a break it was a piece of cake, thanks again!

So what did you do to "fix" things?
