Default horn sounding when locking unlocking vehicle

Is there a way to stop the horn from sounding when you lock and unlock the car on a MY04?: Help, I feel bad everytime I open or close the car as my garage is right under my neighbors bedroom.

I've looked through the manual and there is nothing on this, I also called my local dealer and they said there is no way to do it. This can not be true, can it

I also used the search function and was unable to find an answer.

Your horn is sounding when you UNLOCK the car? It's definitely not supposed to.

And, you don't need to have the horn sound when you lock it. If you press the lock button on the remote once, it'll lock the doors without honking.

yeah, it doesn't have to honk when you lock and unlock your doors. try this, stand next to it and press the unlock once, you will hear the door locks go off and unlock the door. same goes for locking. if you keep pressing the button it'll honk to confirm i guess. maybe that's what the honking is for.

Do you have a factory alarm installed? Maybe something in that installation makes the horn sound.

I've never seen an 04 or 05 just honk for opening it up no matter how many times you press the button. When you lock it though, it should honk on the second time you press the button for confirmation.

If you don't have an alarm, I'd have the dealer check that out.
