Default I need your help

I'm doing a high end audio setup for my car. My main problem is the door speakers. Everyone says this is the correct info. 68 mm (2.68") on the top and 79 mm (3.11") on the bottom.

WTF does on the top and on the bottom mean? What top and bottom are they talking about? I know the easy thing is to just take the door panel off and check for yourself but I don't have the time to do so. The 6.5's I'm looking at spending are $200 each. So thats $400 for just two 6.5" mids. I don't want to buy and then they not fit.

Is 2.68 with a .75" spacer or without? The 3 speakers I'm looking at are 75-80mm deep.

2.68 is the mounting depth in inches.

if you look at that diagram, you'll see that the 68mm is 53mm inside the
door, plus the stock 15mm basket. If you replace the basket w/ 3/4" mdf,
you'll get 53mm+19mm=72mm. can't help you with what the maximum
thickness spacer is. What speakers are you considering?

Seas w18's that are 80mm deep. Or any other speaker I want to get is around 75mm

well, since the magnet doesn't take up the whole diameter of the cutout,
your actual minimum in-door depth will be somewhere between 53mm and
64mm, so you'll pick up a few mm there, and I'm guessing you can go a
little thicker than 3/4", but in the end unless someone has done it, you'll need
to take off the door panel and do some measurements. Also make sure
we're talking mounting depth, and not total depth. Can't speak for those
SEAS, but the Lotus/SEAS PW165 & RW165 both show mounting depths of
71.5mm. Good luck!

user NO RIDE has CDT ES-07s installed, and according to the specs for them,
they're 7" with a mounting depth of 72.9mm. If you do a search, I'm pretty
sure he posted about what he did to install them.
