Exactly. At least you are covered. I have no idea what's going on... It has been acting the SAME way the entire time. I am sending it back "locked up", so when you plug it in, you will have to press RESET in order to get it to turn on (if you have the same issue).

I can't see how it could be specific to my wiring, as my Alpine HU hooks up and plays fine... Only variables are the HU and the harness.

I will let you know what the shop says tomorrow over lunch. I will be sure to include the trim panel, harness, trim ring, and head unit. That is all I got, I believe... I will double check it, though...

Ok, yeah I dont even know what "reset" button ur talking about. I have never had to press it, I simpl jsut turned it on and thats it. I have NEVER had an issue with it. Did you still want the trim ring so you can pick up a different radio and still use the double din trim I made?

GL with you situation, BTW did you try hooking just the 3 wires only to see if it does it again on the battery only(not using any honda harness)??

Well, I dropped it off at a local shop today. They found that the front right speaker output (positive) was grounding to another PIN in the harness... They unhooked those wires from the harness, and it worked great. I am just leaving them uphooked, as i am not using them anyway.... (All external amps, so only using the pre-amp outputs).

AP1_S2k - Thanks for you help on this. I will have your iDA-X001 out next day via UPS tomorrow. Hopefully it will be there by Friday, Saturday at the latest.

We figured it was something in the harness as soon as we hooked it up to a bench-test setup. Fired up with only power / ground hooked up, so it had to be in the harness somewhere.

I do know that it was in the Kenwood-Honda harness, as my Alpine unit functioned perfectly though its Alpine-Honda harness... Only difference is the unit and the harness, car wiring is all the same. We verified the unit to be good via bench test, so that only leaves one thing...

Cheers.

John

I knew it worked fine when it came out of my car, I am SOOOO happy that you got it figured out today. I dunno how this happened but its resolved so its all good.

Yeah, I am out $90 for the troubleshoot, though. Its all good, though... I am still of the opinion I got one helluva deal!

And it was not in my wiring, but the Kenwood wiring. I think a PIN in the harness may have popped loose when you were unhooking it... that not unheard of, especially with these plastic clips.

I will drop my unit off at UPS, and I will make sure it gets to you by Saturday, at the latest, so you just have to plug it in.

The DCI is alread wired into the harness, so I believe all you have to connect is the power (I believe its a 5v source, but nore sure... read the instructions on Modifry's website...). The IR eye on the unit is below the "phone" button, in the blank area. Best if you can snake the eye through the door, firing up vs. down.

I also have an Alpine AUX RCA input adapter (adapts RCA to Ai-Net), if interested... Looking to get $35 + shipping for it. I also have an XM tuner / antenna as well... that is $50 + shipping.

Cheers.

Sorry... retarded phone has a habit of reloading pages over and over again... resulting in multiple posts. Will clean up later at real computer.

Mods - Feel free to delete duplicate posts.

Ai-Net is the proprietary Alpine audio input configuration (specific plug). Shows up as AUX source on the HU (changer controller).
