Default New audio upgrade

HI: I installed a new HU and CD changer three weeks ago and new speakers this last weekend. Not being certain that all the stuff would fit in the cavity I soldered the plug for the HU into the car harness instead of using the addapter. The installation is not complete as I don't have all the gear yet. I have an Alpine 7894 HU (last one in captivity) and and Alpine CHAS634 changer under the drivers seat. It is attached to the seat not the floor. I am not able to remember the name of the contributer to this list that used it first, he said that his father helped him with it). That guy is a genious! I am also using XM radio going into the CD port. I didn't go with the Alpine XM unit as I want to be able to move the XM from car to car and also use it on my bench at work. For that reasion I went with the Delphi.
The Delphi got a real workout on our vacation this mounth from the SF bay area to Palm Springs and back by way of San Diego about 1100-1200 miles. There were no problems with the unit and the only dropouts were after a few overpasses.
There is no mention in any of the adds or the instructions for the Delphi but it drives headphones perfictally! high even, thats how I listen at work and also in the wifes SUV.
I installed the new speakers on Friday and on Saterday the SWI-X controll, this stillneeda work.
I expect a set of speakers for the rear tomorrow (Tue ) llong with an addapter to allow me to switch between the MX and the CD changer without pressing the reset button everytime and loosing all to settings O put into the HU.
I also thought I could inset photos from my desktop, not so. I will have to ost them later. BTW the speakers are Polk GXR6 with tweeters coaxial to the midrange. I kept the stock speakers as well. I know that there will be some questions as to my choices so I'll leave things as thay are and take your inquires.

everything sounds good so far, should all work out for you...

I am confused reading this is some areas. Overall I think your audio
will sound good when your done. sub??? I find the lack of bass (without a sub) is a problem especially in a cabrio.

"Work is the curse of the biking classes!" - LoL I know what you mean. Good biking in the NE.

I'm still at it, I installed the 4 inch rear speakers a week ago and I think the sound is better with them in. Of course the volume has increased 3 Db with the extra amplifiers driving them. The sound is very much improved over the stock system and I got thumbs up last night from a couple in the car next to me (they liked the music).
There was a slight problem with the relay for the mute function, one of the leads was in the wrong position in the socket and the correct position didn't have a wire or connector in it. When I hooked it up the muting was reversed, it muted when the LED in the button was not illuminated. I made a jury rig contact with a female spade lug and shoved it in the socket, connected to it, and was on my way.
I still can't figure out yet how to mount the XM radio receiver, I will be removing it out to listen to at work, for every hour it plays in the car it plays 20 on my workbench.
I also can't figure how to make the remote amplifier wire lead work, I may just be in the configuration.

I finally am ready to post some of the pictures of my installation
this is the changer installed under the drivers seat,
The head unit with the soldered wiring.
The switch installation for the AUX/ changer adapter.
The rear speakers from the back installed in the rear panels.
and from the front.

If there are any questions I will be happy to answer them, now has anyone any ideas how I can mount the control/receiver for the MX radio, it works fine except when there are tall trees.

Here are two more pictures of the installation. The adapter before I "tucked" it in place and the radio trim with the switch wiring and the IR emitter leads. I am going to finish this off tomorrow bring out the ignition lead and the amp turn on lead to the area in front of the passenger seat. I have already brought out to here the old 15 Amp radio lead for another use. Supply for the Delphi or another radio.
