OEM alarm or aftermarket? Please assist..
hi guys, just picked up a MY03 S2000.
Im looking into alarms. Should I get the OEM alarm with hood pins, or an aftermarket alarm like a VIPER or Clifford? i can get the OEM alarm online for just under $300 with the pins, but I'll have to get it installed at a dealer, which will cost me approx. $150-200.
A nice viper alarm will probably run me the same with install.
Does the OEM alarm have an indicator light mounted anywhere inside? I don't think it has a radar sensor (i.e. motion sensor).
Is honda very picky about these cars coming in for service and having aftermarket alarms/electronics? My VW has all sorts of electronic bugs and I know an Aftermarket alarm would put me in 'warranty hell'.
I want to be safe and keep the car OEM, but like the added options of the Viper.
what to do? I appreciate the suggestions.

The OEM alarm is nearly plug and pray, but requires a little drilling for the LED. Yes, it has one. They suggest that it be mounted in the console. But they have also designed it to be installed under the drivers seat, a somewhat vulnerable spot. See http://www.handaaccessories.com for the manual. Or consider one sold by wlaurent.
Most bystanders ignore alarms so I bought a pager type so at least I'll know if/when it happens.

here's a link to WLaurent's site and all his gear.

i've found it to be a very effective alarm for the price, as long as you're willing to work w/ a little solder. considering that most alarms are 50% install costs (or so), William's setup is a pretty good deal.

where are people placing the LED in the S2k? I really don't want drilling taking place on the doors or the dash, there is a spot near the base of the windshield, but that looks like it may require more work to actually get the light there.

i put mine in my driver's side A-pillar... it's quite visible. i've considered adding a 2nd on the passenger side. it's a good location, b/c the A-pillar trim is only like $30, so if you screw up... it's cheap to replace.
