Pics of my new system...box from darkknight1999
I had darkknight1999 build me a box that would house a 10 and my amp in the well area of the trunk, but could be covered to put crap back there.
Anyway, here is what it looks like.

I'm running it all off the stock HU; Tru Technology 4.65 amp (2x100 fronts, 1x200 sub; all at 2ohm).
Sub is an infinity Kappa Perfect 10.1, components are Orion HCCA mids, modified A/D/S crossovers, and silk dome tweeters.
I used some LOCs i got from www.DavidNavone.com with the subwoofer one being variable so i can turn the bass down.
All in all i'm fairly happy. The Gain on my amp is all the way down, and i have much better sound than what i had from the stock speakers....i also removed the rear tray for a bit of bass into the cabin.
I have a basic alpine HU that I could probably put in to get a cleaner signal, but I think i'm going to keep the stock HU...my hope is that if someone ever breaks into the car they will see the stock HU and not bother breaking open the glovebox to be able to get into the trunk....trying to be a little stealthy i guess.

One again, John does good. Great work, and great sub. However, you are completely and utterly out of your mind using a tru-technology amp with the stock headunit. Thats like having a brand new Ferrari, powered by a power wheels motor.

yea..i know what you mean about the amp....I had it in my WRX with a nicer setup, car caught fire, and i sold most of the stuff off. This is what was leftover and the infinity i had just sitting in the garage.
Maybe one day i'll throw in a used Eclipse deck or something. All i really want is ipod hookup in the car anyway. I don't listen to the stereo, and rarely use the cd player.
there is a thin strip of wood behind the trunk paneling. the top two screwes go through the paneling, through the wood and are secured with t-nuts. the sub box puts a fair amount of pressure against the amp, so i don't think it's going anywhere.

i couldnt help but share this sad info right when i read tru technology. some may actually comprehend what has happened and some may never understand how great his work was.
last friday the engineer(john fairchild) of tru technology passed away. from what i have heard through the people of tru technology is that he died from a heart attack. john fairchild was a mad scientist in what he did, tru technology's products would not have been what they were without this awesome man. if anyone has ever used TRU products, they can understand that everything in the same price range does not compare. he was the only engineer tru technology had and he will be deeply missed. i am glad that i have had the privledge to meet john fairchild and i wish i could have thanked him for all that he has done for the audio industry and myself.
you can read more about john fairchild in a thread at ECA. http://forum.elitecaraudio.com/showthread....threadid=127937

ohh wow....he died!!??!!
that's nuts. I met him once too, he was a great guy. I was having trouble with the amp out of the blue, and saw they were "local" i made the 25 mile drive and he took great care of me.
they took my amp apart and tested it in numerous ways....turns out for some reason my ground just all of a sudden went bad...we regrounded it and it worked.
he was very pleasent and helpful....i'm sorry to hear about his passing...
