i have the 7900 and it keeps coming out.. i for some reason cant get it to stay in there..the "bracket" wont stay on the headunit itself so it just keeps sliding in and out of the bracket.. cant even close the door without the door pushing the button.. and yes i put the little metal things up.. i must suck at installing it then
and also i like the 9800 full color display.. mine only has blue .. i think ima sell it and get a alpine...

k third time i edited my post in the last minute lol.. i know you guys run the ipod cable through the middle dash.. but were do u actually run it throu to get there.. is it hard? what did you have to take off? how long?

and also where did you guys run the mic..
ok few things. with the actual HU, dont use the little thin piece of metal that slides over it, get rid of that and use the mounts off of the old HU. The little L brackets that have screws to hold them on, if you know what I mean.

Just copy over the old mounting method of the oem headunit and it should fit fine.

for the bluetooth mic, I ran it up to thru the A-pillar (driver side) and stuck it down with some glue right below the side strake, (for the convertible top to clip) so you cant really see it. But I never really use it and its hard for people to hear me at freeway speeds, so Im up for ideas to change it possibly.

As far as the Ipod adapter goes, it depends on which one you get. I got the one thats the pioneer ver. 2. I found that the end of the cord does not fit thru the compartment door. Not sure if you can picture it but in short, you would need to mod the glove compartment (grind the plastic a good bit) to get it to fit thru so you can have your ipod in the center console. (our cord end is much much thicker than the ones shown on the DIY's)

I put my ipod in a little black sleeve in the passenger foot well, where that little mesh basket is at.

if you have any other questions let me know

yea thanks for the info.. im tyring to run the ipod cable the easiest way possible.. i might just run it to the little glove thing under the driver dash.. and also i just use the old mounting brackets off the oem unit and put it on my pioneer?.. i dont think the screw whole is in the same spot ill have to check that again.. i hate taking the headunit in and out.. its so damn hard gettin all the wires to fit all the way in the back so the actual unit itself can go in..

its pretty much hell. I took about 3 hours of my day trying to figure out a way to make it so nice back there it would just slide in, making the wires all nice heat shrinking everything together. Still was a pain in the ass to go on.

I can assure you that MY deck (same model) had the screw holes on the side of the deck where you just replace the brackets and slide her in, then screw the other end into the dash to hold her in.
