OC1515, This thread kind of got hijacked but I'll see if we can get it back on track...

Sounds like we both have good taste in music - Zep and the Dan are 2 of my absolute favorites. I installed my system about 1.5 years ago and I went with a Pioneer Premier HU, (it was about $150 less than a comparable Alpine), Visonic Amp 100w X 4 with 2 channels driving the sub and one for each door, JL 8" in a Wlaurent box, and Diamond s600 6.5" components in the doors. I also put in rears - driven off the HU - but they are pretty worthless because my seat is back all the way. I will probably move those to S-pods at some point.

I'm right down the road from you so PM me of you want to check out my system. I think the smartest thing you can do is check out some other S2k systems and see what you like and don't like.

Ok,

So here is the configuration I'm "currently" thinking of doing

HU: Alpine CDA9835
speakers: Focal 165W
Sub: JL Audio Stealth box (comes with a 10" sub)
JL audio 300-2 for the speakers
JL audio 250-1 for the sub

Question: Which would be the better speaker: Focal 165W or the Focal 165K2P?

Save the money and go with the 165K2P. It has a Utopia tweeter and costs less than the Utopia series.

You may be happy with the JL Stealthbox, and you may not. If you get the JL Stealthbox, don't pay retail! Get it online for less!!! You can get a better sub and a custom enclosure for the price of the stealthbox.

The good thing about the stealthbox is that it doesn't require a ton of power, thus, your JL amps will be perfect for what you want to do.

Everything looks good though!

Let us know how it sounds if that is what you go with!

BTW, I almost did a very similar set up. One of the local shops recommended the following:

1) Alpine 9831 (my choice)
2) MB Quart mids/highs
3) JL Stealthbox
4) JL 300/2 on mids/highs
5) JL 250/1 on sub

Ya, Just looking at pics of the stealthbox is doesn't look very deep. Should I be going for a box with more volume with a different sub in it than the one that comes with the stealth box? Recommendations?

Also on the focals you guys think I would notice the difference between the 165w and the 165K2p model? Thanks
