i have the same speakers and tried the same thing to no avail, after destroying the speaker baskets, i finally figured out that they will not work. your best bet is to either cut a simple ring spacer out of some MDF, or get the adapters from lucid. either way you get the same effect.

 

I was wondering...will the stock holders or lucid's adapters work if I have the Focal 165K2? I'm also just starting my install too. Thanks.
