Default Quick Help!: Installing the DCI moddule for stereo!?!

I have purchased the DCI diode control piece for my stereo and im installing it as we speak.

I am trying to get it to work with my (Panasonic) stereo and it does not seam to be working. Has anybody else has this kind of issue? I am following the instructions... and I know the diode it self is working because i can see it in a camera.

Please let help and let me know if there is any special calibration or something that I have to do to get it working with my stereo.

Yes, there is a specific jumper setting on the DCI it self which I set. Im stumped. The directions dont say much else but im wondering if it should be that plug and play and nothing else that I have to do.

What model of headunit do you have, and is it supported by the DCI?

It should be plug and play. Set the dip switches to the proper manufature. Wire the headunit to the supplied harness. That should be about it.

What is it not doing? Anything?
What did you do to install it?

Got a Video Camera? if you do, you can see if the LED is sending. Video cams can see the IR as visable light, so you can see it through the viewfinder.

Which DCI did you buy?

I have a Panasonic H/U and I bought Modifry's DCI and it works great.

Good thinking to test for IR by using your camera. If the IR transmitter lights in the camera when you press the dash buttons then it sounds like the wiring is good.

I believe for Panasonic the first 3 dip switches should be set to ON, ON, ON, which should be the way it was shipped.

While we haven't tried every Panasonic HU for compatiblility, it's pretty unusual for a manufacturer to change remote codes. Here's a photo of the remote I used to learn the IR codes from:

If your remote is the same, it should definitely work. If it's different, you may want to check with your shop and see if the above remote will work with your HU.

One way or another we'll get you going, even if it means swapping the DCI.

One more thing - verify the DCI IR emitter is pointing at the IR receiver on your HU. IR emitters usually have about a 15 to 25 degree angle of emission. Your factory remote is far enough away from the HU to have a nice wide pattern so it's not picky about aiming, but the DCI emitter is probably very close to the HU so it needs to be right in front of the IR reciever. Usually the HU manual will show where the IR receiver is loocated.

There is also some more info
